Enjoyed the show, as always. Sorry to hear that you won't be podcasting for awhile, but I respect your need to put more time into other stuff... Keep us posted on your foray into the world of horticulture!!
Of course I was just looking for a place to crash when I showed up in Ottawa -- part of a CUSO tradition of showing up, unexpectedly, and getting a cot and some hots. I remember sitting around the table with "Cousin Zeke" while you two had a heart-to-heart (I think he thought I might be moving in, too!) One of the insights that I had while living in Ottawa -- when Gatineau WAS Hull [Do you remember: "Heaven ... or Hull"?] --was the fundamental difference between people in the East and those that live in this little bubble of rainclouds and sunshine: you guys have seasons! The critic, Northrop Frye, once speculated the archetypal journey of the hero mimic the cycle of the seasons (I think that it is in "The Divided Imagination", or "The Bush Garden" -- ah, read both ... I don't think that it will do any harm.) He never would have come up with that metaphor if he'd lived out here -- maybe the hero's journey would have something to with climbing mountains. Still, it is good to see that you are coming to the end of your cycle of straight goods. Honestly, I cannot remember every sidestreet your mind has driven down -- hey, you're the driver and that's your job; I'm just happy to have had the opportunity to be a passenger in your IP Cruiser. I saw Cousin Zeke a few years ago at Barnacle Bill's chateau -- I reminded him of the time I'd shown up at the house. He had forgotten. When I mentioned "Trucker: The three-legged dog", it jogged a flicker of thought. It was nice to have a chance to have a "walk" by the grave. I suppose there's a lot for all of us to learn from that old dog. Peace out, Dude.
Dude, Great show! And you were right in my neighbourhood! Drop me a line next time you're passing through and we'll go for a pint. I suggest inviting Mark Blevis too (he always insists on paying);)
I get what you're saying about the need to refrain from attachment to the whole podcast thingy. We'll miss you when you're gone though. Maybe you'll send us some veggies from your garden?
Thanks Arthur- we were heading for the Manx, my Guru's regular watering hole, but it was closed for a private party, so settled for Lieutenant's Pump across the road. A brew or two with you and Mark sounds great - Kingtson for sure!
Ya, this gardening idea kinda scares me - I can too easily see myself talking to my vegetables - and getting pissed when I don't get enough feedback.

What is the sound of a tomato growing?
